The Words of the Elder Family |
The Messiah, savior of all humanity past present and future, lies in the intensive care unit of a hospital, fighting to hang on to his physical body to continue his work on earth.
Am I wrong to keep thinking of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane? Is Father even now in a desperate prayer, saying to God: "If it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as You will"?
The thought keeps coming to me as we do our best to keep to our routine within a few minutes from Father's hospital bed.
We know from Father's teaching that if Jesus' three disciples had remained awake and prayed with him, that events of that night 2,000 years ago would have turned out differently. Are we in the position of those disciples today?
My concern is that, as this situation continues, we become adjusted to the crisis, the crisis becomes a new normal and we lose our focus on the Providence. When we first heard of Father's illness, we were all shocked. Each of us reflected on our relationship with True Parents, and determined to do better. As the crisis continues without major developments, my fear is that I may slip back into my former level of faith.
