Dear Brothers and Sisters,
What a terrific message we heard last week from Reverend George Kazakos of Los Angeles' Lovin' Life Ministries. Reverend George said a lot, but one key word that grabbed my attention happens to be one of my personal favorite things.
Chocolate!
Well, to be a bit more serious, "sharing the chocolate," is what he enthusiastically supported. It was a great analogy for reaching out to share our faith with others whom we have not yet reached. I took it to heart, as I am sure we all did. On Monday morning, stopping at a local gas station to fill up the tank, I saw a tall dignified-looking gentleman doing the same thing on the other side of my pump. I happened to have stuck a "God is Calling You" card in by shirt pocket with my name and phone number on it. Immediately the thought came to me, "share the chocolate, Matt".
It was a bit scary, so I just started by asking his opinion about the weather. When my new friend mentioned that no one but God really knows what the weather will be, I knew I had an opportunity. I gave him the Lovin' Life card and mentioned my church affiliation. Imagine my amazement when the man said, "I know about Reverend Moon because I was stationed in Korea and met his daughter once, years ago. Tell me a bit about your local church…"
Brothers and sisters, we live in a new age, and we need to have a new mind. It is time to share our faith and be proud of whose we are and show the world how far we have come.
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. But who can tell me, what is the best straight line? Is it not the vertical line of love between God, our Parent and myself, the child of God? And when we walk in that vertical dimension of love with our Heavenly Parent, and we believe and know who we are, then the shortest distance to the heart of our neighbor is the line of True Love centered on God.
Let's live in love this quarter at Lovin' Life. Let's reach out and bring our new friends to share God's everlasting love this week.
God bless you,
See you on Sunday,
