Dear Brothers and Sisters,

When we pass through challenging times, it is good to look into the holy writings of the great faith traditions.

True Father teaches, "We should respect the tradition established by the forefathers of faith. Where is the spirit of Noah who was loyal to Heaven for 120 years? Where is the spirit of Abraham, who left the land of Ur of the Chaldeans to wander in a foreign land? Where is the spirit of Jacob, who left the land of Canaan and entered Egypt, and the spirit of the Israelites, who fled Egypt, the land of their enemy, and searched across the wilderness to find the land of Canaan? Where is the spirit of Jesus, who after coming to the earth, wanted to bring all Israel into a new blessed Canaan, the new Eden? You should inherit their spirit through keeping their tradition."

How often during any day with its many activities and tasks do we think about bringing others in to the blessed land of Canaan? How about us? Are we living the blessed life of joy and happiness in the presence of God?

If we think about it, it is just common sense that "in order to give it, we have to live it?"

Last evening at an interfaith gathering a Buddhist teacher shared the core of his faith tradition. One thing he said struck me powerfully. It was this, " The highest aim is to convert a bad person into a good one."

Our True Parents teach a beautiful tradition of service to others and faithfulness to God. We, the students of True Parents can inherit that tradition for ourselves and our children. However, to do so, we must take responsibility.

Let's reach out to someone this week, even if it is just one person, and make a difference in that person's life. Many years ago someone reached out to me and introduced me to the Unification Church. It made a big difference in my life and I want to pass along the blessing as much as I can as long as I am able.

The Jewish tradition of "tsadaka" is a combination of the words "charity" and "justice". The idea is that God is the owner of all things and those who have more ought to share with those who have less. If God has blessed us with abundance, then it is good to return something to God and care for others. Even if we have little, we can still give of our love and kindness and that sometimes makes all the difference in the world.

See you on Sunday.
