The Los Angeles chapter of the American Clergy Leadership Conference hosted its monthly prayer breakfast on Saturday February 23, 2008, at Hays Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. About 120 people were present. Rev. Millsap and his wife, Michelene, presided over a very beautiful Holy Wine ceremony. It featured great musical offerings by a trumpet player, Larry Williams, doing "America the Beautiful" and "Amazing grace" and was joined by Minister Magdalene Millsap. The youth choir also performed in a powerful way. Thanks to the Millsap Family Church.
It featured the very charismatic and inspiring Archbishop George Augustus Stallings of the Greater Imani Temple Catholic Congregation on Capitol Hill. His fantastic speech was titled "Get in the Boat". Archbishop Stalling constantly challenges those ministers who attend the breakfast to "come out from the box and get in the Boat" He made a beautiful illustration of how Jesus came out and got on a boat to teach disciples to reach out to others. Therefore, as we are spiritual leaders, we need to come out from own comfort zone to challenge ourselves to seek God’s kingdom.
There was a report on abstinence Education and the new Free Teens program here in southern California, "Sweet" Alice Harris, Executive Director, Parents of Watts, made a report. She is quite well known in the Southern California and she testified powerfully for the program, which is now being taught in the schools. The program is run by Marcos Vega and longtime Ambassador for Peace and Jack Ashworth. There was a wonderful testimony from a Japanese Christian pastor who is inspired by the Vision of ACLC; he shouted, "Bishop, I’m going to be on the boat." And of course a delicious breakfast was served. The Program ended with a powerful rendition of "Peace, Shalom, Salamalakum."
