The Words of the McCann Family |
On Saturday, Dec 12, we held a One-Day seminar for sisters in Unity House, Dublin. It was sponsored by the Blessed Family Department of Ireland.
The title of the seminar was "Finding our True Beauty in the Age of Cheon Il Guk".
Our main speaker was Maria Lynch, a professional image consultant, who works extensively within the corporate world, advising professional women and also advising women on a personal level on image and appearance.
The purpose of the workshop was to advise sisters on how to make the most of their external appearance and to boost their confidence.
First, we learned about our body shapes and types and which types of clothes are best suited for each person, so that we can bring out our true beauty. Based on that we received tips on how to build up a smart selection of clothes in an economic way; we identified which colors are best to wear for each person. We received tips on makeup and accessories and much more...
I think, one important message was that we don't have to be perfect to be beautiful -- we are what we are, and we all have our little imperfections that we are embarrassed about. But there are so many ways of bringing out our God-given beauty, so that we can present ourselves confidently and with true dignity. Even just a few little things can make such a big difference!
The whole experience was a lot of fun, and Maria created an atmosphere in which we could laugh and learn together as sisters -- as a matter of fact, at the end we were asked to complete a feedback form, and one question was how we would summarize the workshop in one word.
The word that sprung to my mind was simply "Sisterhood"
