The Inauguration Ceremony for the International President of the Family Federation for World Peace (FFWPU) and President of FFWPU Korea began at 10:30 a.m. on April 18, 2008 at the Cheon Jeong Gung Museum in GaPyung-gun Gyeonggi-do, Korea. Rev. Hyung Jin Moon was appointed by True Parents to take up the positions of FFWPU international president and president of FFWPU Korea previously held by Dr. Chung Hwan Kwak and Dr. Sun Jo Hwang respectively. More than 25,000 participants including heads of providential organizations, local church leaders, representative of national messiahs, church elders and core members gathered in the main hall of the Museum.

The emcee for this day ceremony was Rev. Young Seok Song, secretary-general of the Foundation for the Support of HSA-UWC. The opening prayer was given by Rev. Dow Soon Yim, chairman of the Unification Movement in Japan

There were a number of speakers this day most importantly the outgoing presidents and the incoming president. Dr. Chung Hwan Kwak reminded the participants that "this day is truly a historical day and a day of celebration, marking the start of a new chapter in providence led by the second generation [of our movement]." He emphasized that "it is an honor to be able to pass on the mantle of the international president to Rev. Hyung Jin Moon though I deeply regret the fact that I am not able to pass on a more propitious environment to the incoming president." He concluded his address saying "I hope and anticipate the future days of the new international president be filled with greater glory and development." "I hope that he becomes a thoughtful and understanding leader who may remember the situations surrounding the long indemnity and pioneering years [of our movement] rather than simply evaluating the inadequate reality based on just what he might see today."

Dr. Sun Jo Hwang spoke about the significance of this day saying "The inauguration ceremony of Rev. Hyung Jin Moon holds a different meaning: He is being inaugurated as something of the founding president and as one who will take overall responsibility for both the first and second generation members." "We must understand that [Hyung-jin nim] is being inaugurated and also inheriting the tradition providentially laid and prepared by True Parents, and the course of the True Parents, and that he is taking this position where he will be responsible for the Family Federation on the foundation of the internal and external training he has accumulated to this day."

Dr. Hwang went on to explain about Rev. Hyung Jin Moon's inauguration saying that it "lays the root for the construction of the peace kingdom," and asked the members to "bear in mind that this is a day for a new beginning of fortifying and strengthening the root for the purpose of having the peace kingdom cover the world on this earth and also the cosmos."

Rev. Hyung Jin Moon who was given the responsibility for both the FFWPU worldwide and in Korea first thanked True Parents for laying the foundation and tradition of a pastor and for continuously care and guidance. He talked about how True Parents had again advised him to offer a lot of devotion and that they emphasized two things before the inauguration ceremony: That is, to not worry too much and to offer a lot of devotion.

In conclusion, Rev. Hyung Jin Moon expressed his determination and resolve to connect many more people to True Parents and to create a church that would instill pride in the members. He expressed his hopes that all this would further allow True Parents' accomplishments and achievements to shine, and for the True Family to become as one in investing their everything into this endeavor.

Kook-jin nim, chairman of the Foundation for the Support of HSA-UWC, came to the podium to give the congratulatory address. In tears he showed his joy in his brother's inauguration and expressed his love and respect for his younger brother and resolve to attend him as the international president.

Kook-jin nim also emphasized how we should live for the sake of others and become as one. He emphasized that we should invest everything for God and True Parents and return the glory to them.

In the final part of this day's ceremony True Parents came to the podium and asked that everybody help Hyung-jin nim in fulfilling his new responsibility. True Father emphasized that all blessed families should lead an exemplary life so that they may belong to True Parents.

Before offering the benediction True Parents had Hyung-jin nim and his wife stand before the podium and conferred a box representing the "Word." He asked that they invest and invest themselves for liberating the heart of the fourth Adam and offered a benediction blessing Hyung-jin nim as the international president.

The ceremony ended with three cheers of eog-mansei by Rev. Jong Gwan Yu. Right after the ceremony, Hyung-jin nim and his wife presided over a blessing ceremony for one couple.

After the inauguration ceremony there was a congratulatory luncheon at the banquet hall on the second floor of the museum.
