Wishing for the Era of Peace and Tranquility of Cheon Il Guk and Citizen's Pledge Ceremony
A historic event was held at Cheon Jeong Gung on June 6, 2006. Around 4,000 people participated at the main ceremony with True Parents and the True Children (Hyo-jin nim, Hyun-jin nim, Kook-jin nim, and Sun-jin nim). And around 20,000 members from around the world who came to Chung Pyung watched the event, on screen in front of the Tree of Love at the Chung Pyung Heaven and Earth Training Center.
After True Parents came onstage, a representative blessed couple, Mr. Julian M. Gray (editor of Today's World magazine) and his wife Lucilla presented flowers to True Parents. The opening remarks were made by Rev. Sun-jo Hwang, president of FFWPU Korea, who was also the emcee of the ceremony. After the Invocation by Rev. Dae-haeng Yu , General President of FFWPU Japan, Rev. Chung-hwan Kwak, International president of IIFWP, gave the opening address. This was followed by the carrying the Sacred Fire.
The simultaneous lighting of a dish not unlike the Olympic torch with Sacred Fire represents the first stage of the creation of a new heaven and earth. Torches were initially ignited at four holy grounds in Korea during June 1 to June 4 and the flames carried by lantern to Chung Pyung. (These holy grounds are Mt. Mani in Incheon, the previous Korea Headquarter in Seoul, Beomnetgol holy ground in Busan, and Mt. Bonghwa in Yeosu.) Four representative runners from each holy ground brought the fires from the main gate of Cheon Jeong Gung to the bottom of the steps. Then four representatives, from Korea, Japan, America, and Europe respectively received the torches and passed them on to Hyo-jin nim, Hyun-jin nim, Kook-jin nim and Sun-jin nim on stage. Two pairs of True Children simultaneously lit a torch held by Father and one held by Mother.
Father and Mother walked across stage, torches held high in the air and lit fuel in a raised container that had metal plates to protect them from the sudden, dramatic eruption of flames and sparks. The flame that burst forth from the container traveled straight out from the stage down a wire (barely visible to the crowd of onlookers), when it was above those in the back seats it it ignited three rockets that went side by side at a right angle to the course the flame first traveled and lit a single large bowl-like torch.
After the completion of the first stage, representing the creation of a new heaven and earth, the second and third stages were the Dedication and Conferment of Cheon Il Guk Soil and Water. True Parents received the soil and water from the ten continental directors, which they mixed all together in one big golden bowl. After mixing it with the soil and water of the Chung Pyung holy ground, True Parents redistributed the soil and water to the ten continental representatives. At the same time, True Parents gave a rose (symbolizing men) and a lily (symbolizing women) to each continental director as the Conferment Ceremony of the Cheon Il Guk Flowers, which represented the fourth and fifth stage of the creation. These two stages symbolized the creation of animals and plants.
As for the last stage the Pledge Ceremony for the Citizen's of Cheon Il Guk was lea by a second Generation couple, Mr. In-yeong Song, leader of Geumcheon Church in Korea, and his wife. This stage symbolizes the creation of humankind. All the members repeated the 'I swear' (in Korean language) at end of each sentence of the affidavit that the representative couple read. And at the end, True Parents attached the pledge to three big balloons and released it to the heavens.
Then True Father spoke very briefly, saying that God has come down to the earth from heaven today. He gave a heartfelt prayer after that.
After that, there were congratulatory performances to commemorate this special day were. most of the songs were requested by True Parents. With the three cheers of eug mansei by Rev. Chung-shik Yang, North America Continental Director, this historic event ended.
