[Mrs. Won Ju McDevitt Reads from chapter ten of the Pyunghwa Hoonkyung]

Summary of Rev. Sun Jo Hwang's Report:

On August 5 there was a dedication ceremony in Pyongyang North Korea for the World Peace Center. The official name of the event was the 'Ceremony for the Completion of the World Peace Center.' A total of 147 consisting of heads of providential organizations and companies, sub-regional directors in Korea, Dr. Min Ha Kim, Mr. Bong Ho Kim, the former vice-speaker of the house, and representatives of first and second generation members participated in the ceremony.

We arrived in Pyongyang on August 4. On August 5 we held the ceremony with representatives from the North, and also visited Jungjoo and Anjoo, True Parents' birth town. On August 6 we toured Pyongyang and visited the factory of Pyunghwa Motors.

I could feel the wind of change in North Korea; it was as if North Korea was also affected by the substantialization of the Cheon Il Guk providence. Five years ago when I visited North Korea to take part in the ground-breaking ceremony for the Pyung Motors [factory] I remember how oppressing it felt seeing the propaganda and slogans in red hung here and there in the city. Yet, this time I was not able to find a single banner with the kind of excessive terminology. The greatest significance of the dedication ceremony was that our church was legally recognized and established in North Korea. It is probably the first time a religion from South Korea settled itself in the North. It was truly difficult in completing the Pyongyang Church. Mr. Sang Kwon Park who has been in charge of our church projects in the North for a decade now even said that building a church in Pyongyang was a task more difficult than building ten factories of Pyunghwa Motors.

Spiritually, the ceremony for the completion of the World Peace Center can be understood as a 'new creation.' It is Father's 'darling' born sixteen years after Father's visit to North Korea in 1991. In the 1980s and 1990s Father brought two types of Cain-type realms to submission -- Christianity in America, and the communist realm. He had invited 7,000 Christian ministers from the United States to Korea and touched them through his words and actions. Through that historical visit at Pyongyang in 1991, Father restored back the right of the elder son from the communist realm. It is a being publicly talked about that the start of the exchanges between the two Korea was possible through the meeting between True Father and Kim Il Sung.

The first service and dedication ceremony for the Pyongyang Church took place at 5:00 a.m. on August 5. We all woke up at four in the morning and prepared for the 5:00 a.m. ceremony. We offered a bow to True Parents, recited the Family Pledge, sang number three of the Holy Song, Dr. Chang Shik Yang gave the opening prayer, we read chapter five of the Pyunghwa Hoonkyung, and Rev. Dow Soon Lym gave the benediction. The one thing that was not to be omitted from this ceremony was Hoon Dok Hae. Although True Parents did not go to North Korea this time, if they had, I'm sure they would have done Hoon Dok Hae the entire day. Hoon Dok Hae is the culture and tradition of our movement. That is why, I brought with me Cheon Seong Gyeong, Pyunghwa Hoonkyung, Divine Principle, Holy Candles, and Holy Salt to hold Hoon Dok Hae in North Korea.

Pyongyang is the land of brides. When Father was on his way to Baekcheon, Hwanghae-do to buy rice, he received instructions from heaven to go to Pyongyang. That was 1946. Father said that rainbows guided him across 120 ris on his path to Pyongyang. There he began to meet the people at the Holy Lords Church, Inside Belly Church and other churches that were prepared as the bride. Unfortunately, the people who were called failed their responsibilities and Father ended up going to Hungnam prison, one of the worst prisons at that time. Father was freed from Hungnam prison thanks to the start of the Korea War on June 25, 1950. From Hungnam he went to Pyongyang and then to Seoul and arrived at Busan.

When Father left Pyongyang he pledged to restore Pyongyang and that if he was unable to come he would do so through his children and disciples. On this historical background Father returned to Pyongyang after forty years to meet Kim Il Sung in 1991. Sixteen years later he has dedicated the World Peace Center through his disciples.

True Father brought the word to this land. Ten years after he was called by heaven in 1935 Father sought the Principle. During his time in Japan as a student he wrote on 'The Theory of Repentance' and in Hungnam prison, he wrote a book called 'Wonhwawon E-sang.' Unfortunately these books have not survived. The Divine Principle, which is the textbook of our faith, summarizes the Old and New Testament. In 1997 after the declaration of Chil Pal Jeol, Hoon Dok Hae and the words of the Completed Testament was designated. In the Cheon Il Guk age, Cheon Seong Gyeong and Pyunghwa Hoonkyung have been designated as the scriptures of Cheon Il Guk.

In the farewell banquet I spoke about two things. First, that this occasion was made possible by two men, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Kim Il Sung, who were included in the top 1,000 people (Father, Kim Il Sung, and Syngman Rhee are the only Koreans in this list) that moved the world by The Times in England. Second, I told the audience that "when these two men met they had no grudge or enmity between them. In a Korean movie called Seopyungjae a father tries to teach his daughter how to sing but she is unable to attain the right tone. Out of his desire for his daughter to be able to attain that state of voice he blinds her daughters' eyes so that her daughter may experience bitter resentment and other strong emotions. The blind daughter finally is able to sing according to her father's wish. Later in his deathbed, the father asks his daughter if she knew who made her blind. She replied that she knew that it was him. The father hearing this says 'I have made you blind, but there is no hate or spite in your song' and breathes his last. I believed there was no hate or enmity between us or the people in the North and South."

One of the most important tasks that we must do in substantiating Cheon Il Guk is in making Jungjoo, the hometown of our movement, a holy land. This must be done with the participation of all our members.

Summary of Father's words:

You all have to be engrafted to True Parents' victorious realm. Families that are blessed must throw themselves at the UN. They should go to the UN and proclaim a message of liberation. Only then will the world become calm.

There was a large playground around Moranbong behind the Pyongyang High School. While praying there I remember hearing the sounds of soldiers in training. There was an old lady well beyond sixty who was among a group of people who prayed around Moranbong and Eulmildae. That old lady prophesized "This place will become the center of traffic." Our important questions came from that place.

It was the 24th of the month when I came down to the south. You have to record these words while I must forget them… Whenever we have an event I try to forget about it immediately. Because if you think about the past you cannot go forward into the future. Sun Jo Hwang knows in detail about history. That's because the spirit world assisted him each time. When we level the ground centering on the principles of indemnity and cross that critical moment history must be proclaimed. A draft should be made and reviewed. That kind of record should be the first things made before I go to the spirit world.

In the age of inner freedom, you must attend God. Death does not release you. You must not leave even a single person in your clan.

The words we have are the first of its kind in history. You must treasure it. If not recent converts shall lead the earlier members.

The Unification Church has a universal or cosmic belief. It must create grounds in which God can live for eternity. With that concept in mind you must go on your own path. If you read the word you clearly know where you lack.

I have taught about the spirit world since the time I was in Pyongyang. I gained victory in a victorious setting. You must testify everything about me. I have already united the spirit world; that is why I can unify the earth.
