Heart to Heart with the Grand Mufti
by David Tramberg
Dr. Yang , Rev. Michael Jenkins and a group of Christian ministers and American Muslim Imams went to meet with Grand Mufti Ekrima Sa'id Sabri of Palestine, and three of his assistants to ask his blessing on the December 22 rally for peace. After an hour of talk with his assistants, who invited the three thousand ministers coming from America and the world to come to the Al Asqa Mosque during the rally, The Grand Mufti himself gave his warm blessing on the march and rally, and encouraged all Muslims to attend and support it.
After serving us tea, and talking about many of the serious issues of peace and conflict that face the world, Imam Dr. Erima Sa’id Sabri, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, and chief of the Scholars and Preachers organization of Palestine, formally gave a video speech where he encouraged all Muslims to try to solve the pressing issues of peace, and encouraged them to attend the Rally on the 22nd of December.
The atmosphere was warm, and cordial, and the Imam did not mind at all as we crowded around him, and his desk and showed him pictures off of Rev. Jenkins’s computer. He seemed very inspired to see what we were doing all throughout the holy land, and particularly in Gaza, where suffering is such a great problem.
As we left the Imams office, we walked through a beautiful Spring-like day to a nearby house that is owned by one of our greatest supporters, Imam Baruch. His family has been in that house for over four centuries. He asked Dr. Yang and Rev. Jenkins if they would be so kind as to sign his family diary of visitors. As they did so, giving a special message to this great supporter of God’s work today, he told how this book had visitor’s signatures and messages from over 400 years to his family, from almost all countries of the world.
