Harlem Community Affairs
Chaplain Daryl M. Clarke
The New York Family Church has prepared a space in our Harlem Community Center to start a Technical Assistance Center. This TAC will provide the New York community with much needed technical support to develop and enhance their ability in computer knowledge and social skills to adequately enter the city's work force in education, civic service or business. These services are totally free to the community. The TAC's renovation is complete. The high-speed Internet, cable and telephone connections are all installed and operating.
Currently, we have four computers. Brother Kevin Brabazon donated two brand new Dell computers. The other two computers are used. The one donated by the New Yorker Hotel can be used on a minimal level, with no Internet access. The other Compaq computer is running on a Windows 95 system, which is not working well. Rev. Edner Pierre-Louis has donated $200 cash toward the purchase of a third new computer (preferably a Dell).
Rev. Bruce Grodner and I met with the West 120th Street Block Association. They agreed to be a partner with the TA Center, so we have put their name on the brochure (see attachment).

When opened, the Internet Caf¨¦ will be available. Two Second Generation high school students, Kristoff Heller and James Gomis have volunteered to be responsible to manage the Caf¨¦ after-school. We have purchased a Netgear Wireless Router to connect more than one computer to the Internet. Soon Brother Charles Patterson will come and install a network system that will allow all the computers to view the same programs simultaneously which is excellent for teaching students the same material at the same time. . Dear brothers and sisters we are ready to open this TA Center. To better serve the community we need 2 to 5 more efficient computers (preferably new) in order to operate a top quality class and Internet Caf¨¦. Therefore, we are humbly requesting that you either "Match" the donation of Brother Kevin Brabazon and Rev. Edner Pierre-Louis or provide a monthly stipend for the two 2nd Generation youth to manage the TA Center.
If computers are not your cup of tea then please kindly donate any of these items: A new printer/copier with network capability, a fax machine, cash for caf¨¦ tables and chairs. We are ready to go, please email us or call me by Tuesday, April 12, 2005. We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible our federal tax number is: FFWPU 94-6103080. May God Bless All That You Do!
Thank you,
