Hannam-dong Welcomes Leaders from Oceania and Korea

On May 22, 2005, a morning Hoon Dok Hae session was held at Hannam-dong official residence with some 120 core members from the west Seoul region. Mrs. Wonju McDevitt began reading from page 182, section 2, Chapter 1 of Book 2 "True Parents" in Cheonseonggyeong. After Hoon Dok Hae Rev. Kwak gave a report on the 55 leaders including parliamentarians from 11 nations in the Oceania region. These leaders were participating in a seminar in Korea and each of them were deeply inspired by True Parents work and have testified that they now see True Parents in a new light. Father had already emphasized from before that the age of Asia and the Pacific region was dawning and that if the nations within that area cooperate with one another, they would be able to exhibit tremendous influence and power.

Following this there was a report by Professor Son Dae-oh who just came back from China. He briefly explained that providence in China was rapidly progressing centering on True Parents' philosophy and that the leaders were doing there best to get substantial results during True Parents' lifetime.

A garden party was held at Hannam-dong official residence for invited leaders from Korea and the Oceania region on the same day (May 22 at 5 p.m.) A total of 80 dignitaries were gathered that evening including the 55 leaders from Oceania. Among the 20 Korean leaders included Lee Cheol-seung, Director of the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation. Rev. Dr. Peter Kim was the emcee for the first part of the program which was followed by the banquet.

The first part of the program began with a prayer by Mr. Kamilotege, a peace cooperator, from the Qualdalkana area of the Solomon Islands. This was followed by some brief remarks from Rev. Dr. Kwak Chung-hwan, chairman of the IIFWP. The emcee then introduced the dignitaries gathered that day followed by a welcoming remark by Kim Yoon-deok, former minister of Korea. Salvadore Iriate from Micronesia, Augustine Taneko, minister of Solomon Island, and Lord Mayor Joseph Aron shared their reflections of the seminar. Two representatives offered True Parents a bouquet. Father then spoke to the guests and True Parents sang a song. Wonju McDevitt then read the messages from the communist leaders in the spirit world. The first part of the program ended with a prayer by Rev. Kwak.

Father gave his speech from a written script that day and continued to speak for another 30 minutes. He emphasized to the participants that they should create families to which God can come and be pleased with. He spoke about the many questions that arise after reading all 66 books in the volume and that none of the saints and sages could answer those fundamental questions in the Bible. Only God had the answers and Father had finally revealed the fundamental truth which was "God and humankind are in a parent-child relationship." Consecutive interpretation was done by Rev. Peter Kim.

During the singing session participants were inspired and began to stand up, clapping their hands to the beat.

With the end of the first part of the program, participants went out to the garden for a party which commenced with a toast by Chairman Lee Cheol-seung.
