Epistle to the Listening Ears of E-Corn
"He who has earphones, let them hear." (Gospel according to the dispensation for non-Korean speakers)
NOTE TO BELOVED UTS ALUMS: I just realized that my e-mail function has not been working correctly for mailings to lists. It is now corrected--I hope--and I am going to send you the E-Corns that you did not receive. Sorry.
September 22, 2000: I tell myself that I will sit down and write a well thought out E-Cornerstone, and it never happens. So I will stand up and write a quick one.
The Manhattan Extension is underway. Tomorrow we will finish our first week of classes. We have about 40 students, 3/4 of them from other churches, and 9 classes being offered. Last night I taught my inaugural class in the course "Foundations for Church Growth," with 13 students. Not bad for less than six weeks of publicity. It's a fantastic boost for 43rd street and it is going to BOOM.
RECRUITMENT is vital for the winter term. ALUMNI!! Please spread the word that UTS is moving forward and can and invite people to attend. True Father met the faculty and staff last weekend and really encouraged us to bring Ameri can students.
Prayerful planning is underway to begin a series of Couple's Workshops/family workshops and/or healing type counseling workshops. Barrytown could become a facility for spiritual growth of all people, especially centering on achieving deep success in marriage and family life. Please join our prayer to make of Barrytown the western equivalent of Jardim and Chung Pyung Lake. True Father stated two years ago that it is possible. We want to combine the spiritual illumination of CPL, the natural beauty of Jardim and the horizontal genius of the best of the western spiritual traditions, and make it effective for people within and beyond the borders of our movement.
Our traditional team life is evolving into small group ministry here at Barrytown. I want the students to DO ministry with each other in small groups. Through SGM we can personally benefit. We can create a healthy community here. And we can learn skills in leadership that we can take into the church upon graduation. Small group ministry is one essential component of growing a healthy church. Coming soon to a church near you.
Great classes and community life . . . Success in Manhattan . . . Success in recruiting for Barrytown for winter term . . . Success with a couples' workshop . . . All these things supporting the Million Family March . . . We can have a glorious future.
God bless you abundantly . . . ITN, Tyler Hendricks
