Dear E-Cornerstoners,
Please keep UTS in your prayers. We have an important meeting with our accreditors, Dr. Sherrill Babb and Mr. John Palmucci, representing the Middle States Association, on Wednesday, September 19. They will be looking at our financial situation and also discussing the Self-Study Visit for next spring.
The Self-Study is the core of our process to maintain the accreditation.
We have a wonderful new class of seminarians, numbering 58 in Barrytown. It brings our total student body to 85 full time equivalent at Barrytown and 21 full time equivalent in New York at the extension center. Many of the new students were those chosen by True Father on May 7. They are Koreans who have served as church leaders for many years in Japan and also Korea. In addition we have new students from Taiwan, Cameroon, the United States, Switzerland, India, Japan, and elsewhere. In particular we welcome Mr. Eiji Tokuno, former J-CARP national leader. And we have one Christian minister who has matriculated at Barrytown, from Milwaukee, Rev. O. C. Peoples.
We have launched a fundraising team under the leadership of Erich Scharff, who has postponed matriculation in order to dedicate himself to this important task. Through this team, members who are in need of funds for UTS study can serve the church as an MFT, develop the scholarship fund, and within six months to one year matriculate. Please contact Tessa Hodson-Thonett, Director of the Admissions office, for information.
As you know, history has changed this week centering on events here in New York. We are proud of our Extension Center Dean, Dr. Kathy Winings, who took IRFF into service at ground zero on September 12, serving food to volunteers. Following the inspiration of Bishop Dan Johnson, an ACLC leader who has been serving as a chaplain at the bombing site every night this week, several of us are going to serve tonight. I will report on the experience. God bless the world.
