Dear E-Corn Group,

I returned Monday night from, from everywhere. From Germany, Russia, Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan and California. Guess that's almost everywhere, although some are encouraging me to include Africa next time.

I can't even begin to report on the trip; it will take some time to set it forth in an orderly and meaningful way. But I wanted to send off this note to communicate three things, besides the fact that I arrived back safely, and am so grateful to all the leaders, members and alumni in particular, who hosted me so graciously.

1. DINNER. We are holding a dinner for alumni, spouses welcome, on Friday, Dec 12 at 6 pm at the Striped Bass Restaurant in Tarrytown. The restaurant is near the train station. Please confirm your attendance with Robin Graham, Director of Alumni Relations, at <ROBIN2100@aol.com>. He can also give you detailed directions. We are asking for $20 per plate. I will present reflections and photos from my UTS world tour, and, if we have a large enough turnout, we will have a talk on the role of alumni in institutions of higher education by Tom Wade. Mr. Wade, a consultant located in Hyde Park, has extensive experience in the field and has been working with us for more than a year now. His office is in Hyde Park. We will have ample time for discussion and intend to create a festive atmosphere.

2. COFFEE. Next chapter of the coffee quest: Starbucks does not service a location the size of UTS. Well, so much for that company. But our Food Service Director Reiko Mickler discovered an alternative, the premium brand from our regular provider, called Melita. It's good, really. I like it. I mean, it's strong. That's why I like it. And robust. All we are missing is the trendy Starbucks artwork on the wall. I guess people pay the other $1.50 for the artwork. But we'll get some trendy art up there and still charge just a quarter.

3. MATCH. While in the Bay Area I was introduced to a wonderful young member named Tracy Johansen. She's 34 and, in Paul Simon's words, "pretty as a prayer book on Christmas Day." She's a rare bird, too, being unattached and, well, ready for the Blessing. But there are no mid-thirties, new member, unblessed, sharp and together males in the Bay Area movement right now. If you have a possible match for Tracy, please contact UTS alum Charles de Watteville. She's white and is happy with any race, color or creed, as far as I am aware. Charles, and Tracy, live in Sacramento, California, and Charles can give you more information.
