Symposium: Next Generation Voices
Tyler Hendricks
March 28, 2006
UTS is planning a symposium on "The Future of the Unification Movement in North America: Next Generation Voices" The event will feature a half-dozen second-generation speakers. The speakers will be drawn from different segments of the second-generation population, both within and outside the formal lines of the Unification movement and its various organizations.
As envisioned, each speaker will have 20 minutes to address the topic of the future of the movement. They will address not only the movement but their own future involvement in it, in light of both their ideal and their and the movement's reality. Emphasis will be placed on the role of new leadership to shape the movement in the 21st Century.
There will be Q & A time for each speaker. Then we will have a panel discussion with all speakers. The audience will be from all age groups.
The basic purpose is two-fold. One is to create a forum in which the second generation, who will have the Unification movement in their hands over the coming decade, can talk with each other beyond the movement's organizational boundaries. The other is to give the first generation a chance to listen and learn. Through sharing heart and mind, we will practice the virtues of good give and take for the sake of existence, action and multiplication.
The symposium will begin at lunch on Sunday, May 21, the day after the UTS Sports and Culture Festival. It will conclude with dinner. There will be no fee other than the cost of meals. Participants may want to make it a weekend at UTS, enjoying the Festival, a leisurely Sunday morning with great worship, and then the Symposium.
