Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Here is the official letter from Dr. Yang and I requesting full support for Second Generation through the "Young Oon Kim Memorial Scholarship Fund". Donations to this Trust fund are restricted only for scholarships for our American Second Generation to be able to receive their Masters Degree and be given a spiritual foundation that is critical for leadership roles throughout our movement.

Please stand with our Second Generation.

They are the hope of today and tomorrow.

Dear Blessed Central Families - all generations,

On the foundation of True Parents victorious 120 City World Tour we would like to turn our attention to the development of our Second Generation as leaders of our movement.

Our Unification youth provide the greatest hope for our future and the future of the world. Father has always taught that a strong theological foundation is necessary to be a good leader in any field and has often emphasized that this can best be attained by attending our Unification Theological Seminary. For this reason we are asking our UTS Alumni, Church Community and all blessed families to join together to create scholarships and sponsorships for thirty (30) North American Second Generation to enter the Fall semester of 2006 at the Unification Theological Seminary.

On October 16, 2005 in Washington DC, UTS held the "The Young Oon Kim Memorial Evening". The Mid Atlantic UTS Alumni Association, the local DC community and FFWPU leaders, launched the Young Oon Kim Scholarship Fund. That evening enough funds were raised to send one second generation American college graduate to UTS, who will serve that local community after graduation! We could see from this experience that the hearts of our UTS Alumni as well as our church community of Blessed Families are totally ready to support American Second Generation for advanced education and leadership training. This effort has our official undivided support.

This initiative creates a path of leadership development that can transform the culture of our communities throughout the USA. It will ensure that young Americans are given the educational and leadership opportunities to take over the future growth and direction of our church and larger movement. By putting American youth at the center of our leadership team we are confident that their "new and fresh perspectives and creativity" will create a movement that will attract American young people.

Our second generation are among the very finest people we know. Given the right trust, education and support they will create the next level of our prosperity and success as a movement. We believe in our Second Generation. Let's invest in them.

The Young Oon Kim Scholarship initiative was formally introduced at the North American leadership meeting on January 23-26, 2006. Dr. Hendricks, President of UTS, key First and Second Generation UTS alumni and college graduates, as well as the FFWPU Regional and Vice Regional Directors of FFWPU are committed to work together with all UTS alumni to make this effort successful over the next 8 months.

At the local level, UTS alumni, friends of UTS, and FFWPU communities are asked to partner together to identify candidates, and to help raise the scholarships necessary to send our young people through the seminary. To make the seminary education more attractive and practical there will be careful oversight for the young leaders after they graduate. We are committed to create paid ministerial positions for them as Youth Ministers, Pastors, Religious Educators and Youth Counselors.

In addition, our accredited seminary qualifies our graduates to receive formal and professional "ordination" which allows them to seek and secure paid professional positions in the society at large as chaplains, religious educators, professional counselors, career professionals in universities, hospitals and in civic and community services.

We would like all graduates to complete the scholarship program by offering themselves in ministry for a specific and fixed period of time (2 - 3 years) after graduation. This ministerial experience will be designed as an important "Career and Resume Builder" so that their time in ministry will be one of great internal and external development. After the "ministry period" we would like to work carefully with these young leaders to examine what their "calling" is in the work of Kingdom Building.

Some will want to stay in ministry; some will want to move on to other careers. In that case, we are asking all affiliated organizations in the Unification Movement to open their doors to train our youth leaders in the field of Ecumenism, Middle East Peace, Media, Finance, Banking, Business, Medicine, Law, Civic and Social Service (including running for public office), Business, Performing Arts, - basically all areas that are touched by the vast and comprehensive work of our movement to better society.

Second Generation are needed everywhere. Rooted in True Parent's heart and tradition, they will bring a fresh new approach to all our efforts to better humanity. We ask that you give freely to this fund. Whatever you give will be deposited in a secure trust that is set aside only for scholarships for our Second Generation.

Please make an offering today. Make all checks payable to UTS and note on the check "The Young Oon Kim Memorial Scholarship Fund". Send your donation to "The Young Oon Kim Memorial Scholarship Fund" Unification Theological Seminary, 30 Seminary Drive, Barrytown, New York 12507. Each dollar you give will help create the path for our Second Generation to take leadership roles in our nation and our world.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chang Shik Yang
