Myung Moon January 22, 2011
"Please remember this day when all children of blessed families who are now in the spirit world can celebrate together with this child. Make little ones who live on earth worthy people, and make their brothers and sisters in the spirit world grow quickly, so that they all in the future become important and responsible leaders for the nation or Your desire.
Father, please rejoice in this hour when we congratulate Shin-deuk and raise him to You. Please bless him, so that he would spend the next year well, grow quickly, be a cute child among other children, and bring harmony to his family. Please bless the families which gathered here to celebrate, bless also their children and relatives connected with them. Moreover I earnestly implore You to bestow heavenly blessings to all babies who are born around this time. Thank you for this glorious May day and this birthday celebration; may it bring inspiring blessings to Shin-deuk. I most sincerely pray for all these things in the name of True Parents. Aju! Aju! Aju!"
[According to Korean tradition, at the celebration of the 1st birthday, parents put in front of a child a book (or a pencil), money and a silk thread symbolizing respectively learning, wealth and longevity. The item picked up by a child is said to foretell the path in life he will take in the future. Shin-deuk nim chose a pencil.]
Mrs. Won-ju McDevitt read Father's words from a book "The Way of God's Will" and offered a closing prayer.
