Rev. Moon had a deep concern about the lack of balance in the American media. Because of this, he felt the need to assist in establishing an alternative media, which was done through the founding of the News World in 1976. This was followed by the founding of the Spanish language newspaper Noticias del Mundo in 1981 and the founding of the Washington Times in 1983. If you take the time to read the text here entitled "give and forget," you will see the ways in which the Washington Times played an important role in helping to prevent the furtherance of communism’s objectives in Nicaragua, Afghanistan, and communism’s call for a nuclear freeze at a time when it had clear nuclear superiority over the United States and was heavily engaged in supporting National Liberation movements in Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia.
