The Words of the Huish Family |
My blog yesterday contained a teaser for today's blog. I mentioned that today's STF workshop schedule would include a guest speaker from Devon. His name is… …Dale Rose.
Perhaps some of you know him; perhaps some of you don't. He was a member of the church in the USA for many years. I had the privilege of meeting him in Korea in 2003 during the STF Assembly at a time during which Dale was supporting STF USA. He currently lives in Latvia with his Russian wife and 2 boys (plus their family is expecting another child soon!) and it looks like he'll be moving to London pretty soon.
Mr. Rose has a BIG HEART, which was clearly evident during his lectures today. He captivated the STF audience today, using many personal experiences as testimony to the education he delivered. One of the points I noted, which I heard repeated by others afterwards, was:
"God doesn't need friends; He needs children"
This simple phrase gives the STF members some inspiration to motivate themselves for their upcoming witnessing campaigns, emphasizing the need to become more than a friend to their guests and to develop a parental heart. That's not to say that God's children can't also be his friends, but of course being a child is fundamentally more valuable.
I look forward to welcoming Dale to the UK community soon. I hope we can all make him feel at home!
