Playing the National Lottery is probably the closest some of us in our community get to gambling. Imagine buying one ticket every week. You're waiting to win the big jackpot and every week your numbers don't come up. Now imagine playing the lottery every week for hundreds of thousands of years. And imagine that in all those years NOBODY has ever won the jackpot. Now imagine the elation when finally, one week, your numbers are drawn and you possess the winning ticket, and imagine that everyone who played that week also has the same numbers as you, and imagine that ALL of you will win the biggest prize in the history of lotteries. Well, that still wouldn't even come close to compare with last night… At 9 pm I was getting tired. I had been listening to lectures all day since 5 am. I had been quite focused most of the day, but my attention was wearing thin during the last lecture after dinner. The schedule stated that the lecture would finish at, so when that time past with the lecture still in full swing I was a little frustrated. "Never mind," I thought. "Soon I'll be able to go to bed and get some rest."
The lecture finished at 9:30 pm. Rev Yu offered a prayer, and as soon as he said "Aju" somebody announced that True Parents were about to enter the lecture room and join us. Suddenly I was a lot more awake!
The whole day we had been taught about the value of True Parents. God has been waiting forever to have a substantial object partner who could embody His shim jung (heart). Father and Mother Moon have finally emerged as the couple to comfort God's aching heart and offer cosmic joy back to our creator. The lectures described True Parents' absolute standard of devotion, putting humanity, their children of the world, ahead of their children by birth. Being able to attend True Parents in itself was the greatest miracle, the greatest honor and privilege, the biggest jackpot prize in history.
And last night our ODP workshop was able to receive True Parents.
What I'm trying to say is that the timing of their visit was perfect. Their presence accentuated the significance that the lectures had elaborated. My overwhelming reaction to their visit was of True Father's joyful heart – he wanted to share love with us. He playfully suggested that we get candles to light the room when the leaders informed him that the hotel staff wanted to switch the lights off. Despite the best efforts of True Mother and Shin Joon nim, True Father spoke and spoke, emphasizing the importance of his most recent speech. He was deadly serious, and yet so grandfatherly and casual in his delivery. Speaking with someone this morning about our experience, we agreed it was like we were welcomed into True Parents' living room.
During this shared time together, there was a report about some comics that had been made to tell the story of True Father's life. I guess it's a bit like the autobiography for children. Also there was a report about a boat that True Father had designed (the details of which were withheld until the patents are secured) which is apparently unsinkable.
Eventually True Father squeezed in the last few pages of Hoon Dok Hae (studying together) before departing at 12:30 am. He hobbled off the stage, struggling to walk down the stairs even with several people assisting him, but there's never a sense of helplessness. He knows his value before God as the substantial body that resembles God's character, and that's his source of energy and confidence. He is actively liberating God as he builds a realm of tranquility and peace with True Mother.
True Father sternly told us that we don't at all understand the content of his speech, and I'm ashamed to say I must agree. But being here on the ODP workshop I feel like I'm intoxicating myself with resurrecting truth – I want to study this over and over again – and I encourage everyone to attend these workshops if you can. There's a workshop starting on Tuesday in Schmitten, Germany, so if you can take a week off please consider attending the ODP workshop being hosted there. Otherwise keep an ear out for the dates of next Las Vegas workshops – I'm certain there will be more soon!
