The Words of the Huish Family |
I recently told myself that I spend far too much time doing admin and not enough time with people. So recently I've been making appointments to spend time with members of my congregation with the hope that I'll be able to squeeze the admin into the spare time I have at unsocial times of the day. Just yesterday I had an experience which confirmed to me that this was probably a good offering to make:
I had planned to meet a brother for a couple of hours in the morning until about midday. As it turned out, we spent the best part of five hours together talking about many different things. We were so engrossed in the topics of conversation that lunchtime came and went without us noticing. It was just after 3 pm when we finally parted company and I began the journey home. While I was approaching a pedestrian crossing I was stopped by a middle-aged Ghanaian lady who was distributing Christian literature. I mentioned to her that I'm a pastor and her face lit up as we shared a short discussion in which she described the special era in which we're living, specifically referring to the return of Christ. In the end we exchanged contact details, which included her giving me the address of her home. We've exchanged emails and we plan to meet on Friday to talk further.
As I continued my journey home I felt humbled that heaven had someone engineered this special meeting to take place. Even the lady admitted that she felt God wanted us to meet. My conclusion was that by making the effort to meet the members of my congregation, I was making the condition to meet other good people, which is also my desire.
I hope that when I meet her later this week I'll be able to share with her the good news that Christ has indeed returned and that an exciting community of people are here in the UK working to build God's kingdom of Cheon Il Guk. Please pray that she can understand what I want to share with her and that I can be a pure channel for God to work.
