The Words of the Kanno Family

Junior I Report

My report is from the viewpoint of a first tie at a European workshop, so I can't really compare it to anything and give any valid suggestions on what to change. Even if it's boring, maybe my experiences are worth telling. It has been a really long time that I've waited to go to a European workshop. I guess the thing that I was really looking forward to was the international friendships, games and fun.

I was looking for a good time, but some of the lectures and morning services inspired me, one in particular, given by Miriam. She talked about the two or three NOs (I forgot how many they were). Everyone knows what they mean, and I personally thought at the beginning it would be totally boring (sometimes it really was). But something in the way Miriam talked really captured your attention, and she had everyone participate, so that nobody had any reason to be shy. I know a lot of people think the same. Each lesson taught me something new. Andreas Bauer's lessons always included some little thing that I've never heard before, or put everything in a whole new light.

So many things happened; I don't really know how to write them.

Challenge day for me was a great experience. I am really lucky that I had a great team (go team 5!). I know that two or three teams got lost (us included), but personally I'll do it again. During challenge day our team made a condition to talk to everyone. Before we got home we had to know something about every team member. We had ten hours (four more than the other teams). It was nice, because if someone was more shy or didn't know what to say, then he/she had a reason to start opening themselves up. After a few days I felt really connected to everyone on my team. But I don't know yet what the other teams did. Thinking about this, this year's workshop motto comes in mind: "Uniting Europe under God" In a lecture someone explained what this meant: By creating unity between us, we can help create unity between our nations (only 15 were at this workshop), and then go on to the world.

It's SO cool that we can do this. I realize it when I think about all the people here. We have those kind of friendships that people at school can't find, they are totally pure and I feel so happy that that we can fulfill the motto. I just hope that this workshop won't fade away in my mind. I want to remember everything that happened and keep the enthusiasm and inspiration that the staff, lectures, teachers and friends gave me.

Nicholas said in one morning service: "Please, don't give up, we'll all work together" He's right: we'll have to work together.

So W.T.F.
