When George Washington's second term as president was coming to an end he was encouraged to run for a third term. He declined explaining that he hadn't led a revolution to remove a King so he could become another King. This set a precedent of a peaceful democratic transition of power in America that has continued until today. I'm no historian but I believe that if Washington had tried to hold onto power or if there were a coup or some other irregularity America would be a different country today if it existed at all.
I believe that as we approach the time of the transition of earthly leadership of our movement to the next generation, the manner in which it occurs will establish a precedent that we will live with for centuries.
The transition must be peaceful and be unanimously accepted by all members. For this to happen the successor must be accepted by all IN ADVANCE of the transition and supported afterwards.
The greatest dangers to this are:
1) Channelers who will claim to channel God, True Father or True Children after Father passes. After all who can argue with God?
2) Any True Children that claim authority for themselves rather that Father chosen successor, Hyung-Jin nim.
3) Any leaders that claim power.
It will be catastrophic if we are divided by having allegiances to different centers after Father passes. Our movement will be splintered and ineffective for centuries if it even survives at all.
Concern about this why I might seem over the top in what I express about Chris's channeling or about Hyun-Jin nim's disunity, or about Ye-Jin nim acting without consulting Father.
Rumors of channelers of Father being prepared at CPL might be the most frightening news of all.
In ordinary times I would worry less about these things, but as the time of transition approaches I believe that any individual or group that challenges the authority of the successor appointed by Father presents a potential for grievous and permanent harm to what True parents have been working so long and hard to accomplish.
I understand that True Mother will have internal authority after Father passes but Hyung-Jin nim is the one appointed by Father to official leadership positions. Perhaps True Mother will have the very important role of supporting Hyung-Jin nim and publicly denouncing challengers.
I suggest that if we establish a good precedent of a unanimously accepted peaceful transition we will have established a good pattern that will be repeated for centuries.
I believe this is the most important issue at this time.
