In 74-75 Daikon (Kenji Ohnuki), Peter Kim, and I each had one of three rooms sharing a common bathroom above the old garage where the new East Garden Main House now stands. Soon after the 1800 couple blessing in 75 Daikon's wife Lee Nam-Hee began sharing his room. Nam-Hee had been part of Father's household in Korea since her High School days.

Occasionally I'd knock on their door to ask about Father's schedule so I could plan maintenance on the cars or something. Daikon would open the door wide and would usually be in his boxers and a tee shirt and Nam-Hee would be similarly casual. This was a bit much for a shy single guy, but I respected their purity and lack of shame.

Some weeks or months after their blessing I encountered Daikon going up the back stairs of the main house at 9:00 or 10:00 pm. Daikon was always the coolest most unflappable man I knew. This time he looked scared to death. Nervous to the point of almost shaking. I had never seen Daikon loose his cool even when Father was blasting him. I asked him what he was doing. He said "Joe I an going up stairs to do a very special ceremony."

Later I understood that Father trusted Daikon and Nam-Hee so much that He allowed (directed) them to live together as brother and sister during their separation. Daikon was/is such a pure person that he could do this (trust me Brothers and Sisters I couldn't) and so innocent that he looked like he was on his way to the gallows when he was on his way to begin his three-day ceremony.

Daikon was the only man that had to keep up with Father's impossible fishing schedule in 74-75. For a few days I rode in the limmo when Daikon was so tired that only God's protection kept the car on the road. After two days I was so sleepy that I couldn't keep Daikon awake. Daikon continued for months. Even with tremendous pressure, Daikon never abused or disrespected the staff. He was always our good-natured older brother.

Daikon was always a true brother and man of integrity to me.
