New Ambassadors for Peace Appointed in São Paulo

São Paulo, Brazil - UPF through the Ambassadors for Peace network in partnership with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and the Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP), organized an afternoon gathering on Aug. 30, 2014, of 140 participants, mostly leaders from various fields of society at the São Paulo FFWPU headquarters with the purpose to form an alliance to build world peace.

Mrs. Celia Zaduski, from the Paraná State Women's Federation for World Peace, was the MC and opened the event welcoming everyone. Then, she called the following leaders and candidates for appointment as Ambassadors for Peace to sit at the right side of the head table:

Senator Antonio Carlos Rodrigues, a longtime partner and supporter; Dr. José Rezende, a businessman; Dr. Carlos Tavares, director of the project Hospital of the Future and medical doctor; Mrs. Lucila Bonfá, vice president of the NGO General Federation of Women's Club; Mrs. Inocência Manoel, founder of the INOAR cosmetics enterprise and president of the Sao Paulo Business Women's Organization; and Dr. Cesar Romão, journalist, author, lecturer, motivational coach and trainer.

Seated at the left side of the table were the following Ambassadors for Peace: Mrs. Rosmary Correa, state governor's office secretary; Mrs. Adelina Alcantara Machado, national president of the Businesswomen's Organization; Mrs. Maria Lucia Amary, São Paulo state congresswoman; and Father José Eraldo da Silva, Catholic priest, singer and founder of several charitable institutions.

Everyone stood to sing the Brazilian national anthem. Then the audience was delighted by songs of Father José Eraldo and the Sao Paulo University of Education Choir, directed by Lucymara Apostólico. They sang "Siyahamba," a traditional South African song, the "Small Train of the Countryside," "The Water Can," "Songs and Moments" and "Berimbau."

Mr. Koichi Sassaki, president of the Family Federation for World Peace in Brazil, shared welcoming remarks and thanked all the participants for attending the event.

Dr. Sr. Simão Ferabolli, president of UPF-Brazil and secretary general of UPF-Latin America, presented a report about the World Summit, invited all participants to take back home and read the founder's address that was distributed on the tables, and explained about the mission of Ambassadors for Peace.

The following Ambassadors for Peace shared a few remarks about the importance of building a culture of peace:

Mrs. Rosmary Correa: “I met personally several times Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and Rev. Moon when they visited Brazil. I admire their important contribution to promoting world peace. I had the opportunity to travel to Korea and see a marriage blessing ceremony for the first time at the beginning of this year. I really agree that the family is the most fundamental and necessary of all human institutions.”

Mrs. Adelina Alcantara Machado: “Now is the time for women to take more responsibility to contribute for a better world and Mrs. Moon is a great example to follow.”

Mrs. Maria Lucia Amary: “I came to know recently about the work of the UPF and I am very impressed about the work that is being done all around the world to promote peace, to fight corruption and to promote good governance.”

One by one the six candidates were called and received a framed Ambassador for Peace certificate and shared a few words of gratitude and appreciation.

After the final picture with all Ambassadors for Peace, the MC invited everyone to enjoy refreshments and take an opportunity to meet each other in friendship and fellowship and to expand the network of a culture of peace.
