Accra, Ghana -- An all-day commemoration of Africa Day will showcase African heritage (i.e., food, fashion, art, and entertainment) at the University of Ghana's Legon Botanical Garden in Accra on May 25.

In planning an Africa Day Festival this year, Adfirst Consult approached the Universal Peace Federation for a collaboration, especially in honoring a distinguished person who has been consistently promoting the African cultural heritage. Adfirst Consult, established in 2008, specializes in media communications, event planning and management. Within their first few years in operation, they created the African Christmas Choral Festival and a paragliding event in collaboration with the Ghana Tourist Authority that drives heavy traffic to Kwahu, in the eastern part of Ghana, during the Easter season.

Other festival collaborators include the Ghana Tourist Authority, TV Africa, Prime FM, and Skyy TV. Abeiku Santana will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and the dress code is African wear.

The Legon Botanical Gardens, covering an area of approximately 25 hectares, support the scientific research of the University of Ghana's Department of Botany. They contain tropical and semi-tropical plant species, including a large collection of palms from various tropical areas. There are facilities in the gardens for picnics by individuals, families and social groups.
