World Sport Fishing Federation
Under the direction of the International Vice Chairman and Continental Chairman Dr. Chang Sik Yang, The World Sport Fishing Federation - USA (WSFF-USA) will open its doors officially early in 2004. After numerous experiences with fishing adventures and local tournaments in places such as Hawaii, Alaska, Gloucester (MA), Florida and the Hudson River in New York/New Jersey, Australia, Marshall Islands, Paraguay and Uruguay over the past twenty years, a cooperative effort of international individuals realized a calling of greater purpose. Thus, the Fishing World Cup was created and was sponsored by the original WSFF in Nagaski, Japan on Hirado Island in 2001.
Some 510 fishermen from twenty-seven countries participated for prize money of $90,000.
The 2003 Fishing World Cup, under the guidance of the International Chairman Mr. Tae Geun Yoon, was held in The Republic of Korea. The tournament took place on the coastal waters and coastline in the vicinity of the city of Yeosu. Over sixty countries were represented competing for total prize money of over $90,000.
World Sport Fishing Federation - USA is sponsoring its first official tournament April 24th and 25th, 2004 on the Hudson River in New York/New Jersey area. It will be called the Hudson Striper Peace Cup. It will be an open event for the largest striped bass fish of the two day tournament with awards and prize money over $20,000. Winners from this tournament will be eligible to participate in future tournaments sponsored by WSFF-USA in the fall of 2004 and the next Fishing World Cup in Taiwan in 2005. Details will be posted when they become available.
